PET Scan - moment of truth

Today is the day. 

PET Scan to see if there is cancer present. 
This whole process has taught me about how much cancer loves sugar. Scott had to eat high protein yesterday and fast until the test. Then he they put a tracer aka radioactive sugar in his body and then he waits. Cancer gets excited when sugar around and lights up and shows on the PET. We hope to get answers Monday. 

While our kids still have plenty of sugar still, we have cut back a lot. 🤦‍♀️ We'll be a work in progress as my kids inherited both the Kassen & Corbin Sweet Tooth. 

Yesterday was Scott's birthday, 46 years old.  Since he couldn't have sweets, we saved it for today. Vanilla Milkshakes!

Monday! 
PET Scan is in and it looks good! 

He still has a spot on a lymph node that came up but apparently that was to be expected 🤷. He will still do chemo (minus Bleomycin) 4 more months.  Sigh of relief and we keep moving forward. 

We are thanking God and breathing a little easier.

3 weeks later...

  In a sweet turn of events....  The scheduler was new to us.... and she couldn't find an appointment on a Monday for Scott... or Tuesday, so she schedules him for a Wednesday. Which meant he was able to enjoy Canadian Thanksgiving - and we did it well! While the Butter Tarts were not able to make the dessert table, we had enough. Fresh Irish Apple Crumble, Tiramisu, Pumpkin Pie and Nanaimo Style Alabama Bars (Thank you Emma, Corner Gas). It was a great meal he could taste.  Scott has 1 more Treatment and he is counting the days. He rests a lot. Sunday is a great example. He may or may not sleep Saturday Night. He will go to church and then eat lunch. By 1pm he's ready to sleep 3+ hours.  Chemo brain is a real thing and will be grateful for it to go away. In other news, this is time together that we would have never taken for ourselves.
